Construction Summer Camp

The concrete industry offers high paying career opportunities that do not require a degree.

This camp will include:
  • Equipment Operator Simulator Training
  • Job Shadows
  • Hands-on Work Based Learning
  • One-on-one time with Local Training Instructors
  • Mock Interviews

We will provide you with the tools for exploring your career pathway.

If you are curious about what is required to be an equipment operator, welder, mechanic, or driver this camp is for you.

Mini Concrete Skatepark Competition

Join a team and take part in the Mini Concrete Skatepark competition.

  • Day One: Create teams to design a Mini Concrete Skatepark and select a team name.
  • Day Two: Start work on Mini Concrete Skatepark features by creating forms, cutting foam and mixing concrete for molds.
  • Day Three: Continue work on the forms and begin placing concrete.
  • Day Four: Finalize Mini Concrete Skateparks and present them before a panel of judges. Awards are presented to the top three teams.

  • Wednesday July 1st, 2026
  • 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm PT
  • MiraMar College
  • Review the Locations and Agenda for the Camp
  • Parents can ask questions and learn more about what their kiddo can expect each day.
Day 1
  • Monday July 13th, 2026
  • 8 am - 1 pm PT
  • Associated General Contractors (AGC) Apprenticeship Program Lakeside Location
  • Learn about all the AGC Apprenticeship Programs
  • Perform hands on construction project
  • Lunch
  • Mini Concrete Skatepark Contest: Establish mini skatepark teams and start by selecting the design for their mini concrete Skatepark.
Day 2
  • Tuesday July 14th, 2026
  • 8 am - 1 pm PT
  • Concrete Day, location TBD.
  • Learn about concrete
  • Tour the concrete plant
  • Learn about driving the mixer truck
  • Learn about concrete block manufacturing
  • Lunch
  • Mini Concrete Skatepark Contest: Form the base of the mini skatepark and prepare various shapes and sizes of each park. Create forms, cut foam, and mix concrete for molds.
Day 3
  • Wednesday July 15th, 2026
  • 8 am - 1 pm PT
  • MiraMar College
  • Hands on training of diesel mechanic skills right in the lab
  • Learn more about the Mira Mar Diesel Tech Program
  • Lunch
  • Mini Concrete Skatepark Contest: Continue working on forms and begin placing concrete.
Day 4
  • Thursday July 16th, 2026
  • 8 am - 1 pm PT
  • Martin Marietta Site Tour Lakeside Location
  • Tour of the quality control lab
  • Quarry tour
  • Explore various equipment needed for a construction site
  • Mock interviews
  • Lunch
  • Mini Concrete Skatepark Contest: Finalize Mini-Concrete Skateparks and present them before a panel of judges.
  • Mini Concrete Skatepark Contest: Award presentation to the top three teams.
